Greetings! I am a Professor of History at the University of West Alabama, where I teach a broad range of U.S. History courses. From 2008-2014, I was a low-level academic administrator; from 2012-2017, I served as Editor of the Alabama Review. As a researcher, I specialize in U.S. Constitutional History, American Political History, and the history of the American South. My notable publications include Defying Disfranchisement: Black Voting Rights Activism in the Jim Crow South, 1890-1908 (LSU, 2010). I am now finishing two new monographs on the Disfranchisement Era—Politics, Anti-Democracy, and Jim Crow Constitutionalism, 1890- 1915 and a legal biography of Booker T. Washington, The Litigious Mr. Washington.
